Recently purchased via EBay,this collection of five items.... My main object of desire was the Bournvita Cadbury Mug,dating from 1951 an item which I find amusing and stylish. Originally this mug came with a Blue ( acrylic I think ) Nightcap cover, complete with red end bobble, to keep your drink warm !!!

The following information appears here with thanks to CADBURY TREBOR BASSETT'S Information Manager Sarah Foden:

The Bourn-vita Beaker first appeared on the market in 1933 and was introduced to stimulate the sales of Bourn-vita.  One of the attractions of the beaker and saucer was the fact that it was made in the Wedgewood Pottery Works, Stoke on Trent.  The Beakers had a moulded face on the side and were advertised as " Sleeping Beakers ".

To obtain a Bourn-vita Beaker it was necessary to save the wrappers and coupons off Bourn-vita Tins, and exchange them for a Beaker and Saucer.

A re - launch in 1950 of the well known " Sleeping Beaker " was produced in a high grade plastic material complete with a Blue " Night Cap " lid that could be used as a saucer.  These were sold as a special combined offer of a 1/2 lb tin of Bourn-vita and a Beaker, price 2/10d ( pre decimalisation coinage).

Advert reproduction to appear here shortly ......

My Name: JOOLS K. ZAUSCINSKI

Experience Life !!!

Currently I work for a small national mail order company  juggling figures and statistics !! From 1971 to 1988 I worked within the newspaper industry for the Daily Telegraph, Sunday Mirror, News of the World, Daily Mirror, Sporting Chronicle, Daily and Sunday Express and the Daily Star.... my final post was that of Librarian at the Express Newspapers offices  but a compulsory manpower reduction programme saw over 1000 fellow staff and me, made redundant and the office virtually closed. Only used for satellite printing.
I certainly miss my days in the Press, still have the old ink flowing in my veins !!!!
